Web Page

All faculty at North High School have access to their own Web page.  You can change your Web page as often as you like (or as many times as Cheryl LaMaster can upload for you).

The first step, deciding what you want on your Web page.

Write down what you want on your Web page (e.g. name, office number, phone number, e-mail link, syllabi, other pertinent papers in Microsoft Word, helpful links, etc.).

Open up your Word documents that you want to have as links to your Web page and convert them to html documents.

This can be done by going to “File.”

Go to “Save As.”

Keep your file name the same, but change the type of document it will be by scrolling down to Web Page (*.htm, *html).  You will have the document as both a Word and HTML document.  Note: Remember where you are saving it.

Creating your own folder for your Web page (yes, do that first):

Go to “Start.”

Go to “Programs.”

Go to “Macromedia.”

Go to “ Macromedia Dreamweaver MX.”

On the right had side of the computer screen (about 2:00 if your computer screen were the face of a clock), you will see a title that says “Site.”  Click on it.

Scroll all the way to bottom and click on “Import.”

Go to the Shared folder.  To do that click on the down triangle next to the white box before the words “Look in:”

Click on “Shared on ‘Nhs_lrc2/Vol1’(S:).

Dbl click on “global_web

Dbl click on “NEW_SCN_GLOBAL” folder.

Dbl click on “SCN_GLOBAL_FAC.ste”

Next to a folder and the words “SCN_GLOBAL_FAC…” you will see a “+” sign.  Make it a “-“ by clicking on it

Scroll down just a bit to “scnstaff” and click on it to open it up.

Make sure there is a blue line through “scnstaff.”  Then right click on it.

Choose “New Folder.”

The name you give your folder is your first initial of your first name and your last name (e.g. Darth Vader would be dvader).

Cancel out after creating a folder.

Using a template created for your Web page:

Go to “File.”

Select “New.”

If it already hasn’t, click on “Templates” to choose from a wide array of templates.  Choose one of three (scn001fac, scn001fac_rev1, scn001fac_rev2).

Choose the template that best suits you (you can view different templates by clicking of the column entries and observing the Preview screen.

Once you find the best template to suit your needs,  click “Create.”
