The Humanities are the human creations that express the human condition. The Humanities are a manifestation of what is fundamental to the human endeavor as shared across time in the creative outpouring of all peoples, namely through architecture, drama, literature, music, and visual art - including photography and film. To study the Humanities is to study the record of human experience as conveyed in the artistic endeavor of thousands of years of human history. The Humanities and the study of the Humanities moderate the objective knowledge of science and mathematics, thereby providing a more complete and richer context for the discovery of human understanding. At St. Charles High Schools Humanities is the blending of three separate, traditional disciplines, Art, English, and Music, into one Learning Area: Humanities.
