The
LRC staff plan lessons in conjunction with the teachers to insure that
we align our teaching with the curriculum at each grade level:
Kindergarten
- Introduction to library procedures - Checking in and out books, finding
books on the shelves, subdued voices, etc...
- Story time with follow-up activity.
- Teacher-directed projects.

Introduction to simple word processing.

Introduction to paint tools. Children will use the
computer to write and illustrate stories.

Introduction to simple multimedia software.

Reinforce note-taking skills taught by the teacher.

Introduction to the Internet. Children are only allowed
to go to pre-approved sites.

Introduction to library organization. Children will
learn to use the computerized card catalog to locate materials in
the library.

Continue to practice keyboarding, word processing,
and making and using graphics.

Researching for 2 major grade level projects, Native
Americans and World Cultures.

Introduction to a more sophisticated multimedia software
program.

Gather facts from pre-approved Internet sites.

Continue to practice keyboarding, word processing,
and making and using graphics.

Use Microsoft Word for word processing. Children will
learn to change the font, size, style, and alignment of text. In addition,
children will use the spell checker feature of the program.

Continue to research topics that are assigned by the
teacher.
