We have simple checkout rules that students follow when using the library. Children in kindergarten are allowed to checkout 1 book each school day. Because the books they borrow are short, they are asked to bring their book back the next school day to exchange it for another one. This will offer children the greatest exposure to reading and books. In addition, the kindergarten children meet with the librarian every other week to listen to a story and work on a follow-up activity directed by their classroom teacher.

Children in 1st through 5th grades are allowed to checkout 2 books at a time. If they are doing a report, they can checkout an additional book. Their books are due back in two weeks. We suggest that the children bring their books back when they come for their weekly classroom visit. If children finish reading their books beforehand, they may get a pass from their teacher to visit the library anytime school is in session. During your child's regularly scheduled time, he or she will checkout books, do research, and work in our computer lab. To find out more, check our LRC Scope and Curriculum Page.
