Notes from the Principal . . .
This is the final installment of the Friday Forecast for the school year. Tonight is graduation for the 8th graders at North High School. Graduation will start at 7:30p.m. All 8th graders need to report to the North High School Cafeteria by 7:00p.m. to line up and get their Haines ribbons. Parents, family and guests need to use door #4 to enter for graduation. Following the ceremonies, there will be water and cookies in the cafeteria sponsored by the PTO.
Next Friday, June 6th, the 2008-2009 registration and fee packets will be sent to all of our Hurricane families. The registration materials, fees, and student information must be completed and returned to Haines by July 11. We are trying mail-in registration for the first time and believe it will be helpful to all Haines families. Supply Pick–up/Picture Days will be on August 12 from 10:00a.m-3:00p.m. and on August 13 from 2:00p.m.-7:00p.m. If you are a returning parent, the only difference from years past is that you will not have to wait through the long lines to pay. There will still be P.E. uniforms, Haines Spirit Wear, Wrap-Packs, Pictures, locks, and calculators. Once all fees are paid and the registration forms are turned in, parents can expect schedules to be sent out from Haines on August 5th.
The sixth grade picnic will be held at Haines Middle School from 11:00a.m.-1:00p.m. on Wednesday, August 20. Parents are encouraged to volunteer through the PTO to help cook the hotdogs and prepare for lunch. It is an excellent event that I would encourage any and all future Hurricanes to attend.
The last day of the 2007-2008 school year for 8th graders is today, and for 6th and 7th graders it is Monday. The busses will be lined up at 10:00a.m. for dismissal on Monday. Parents are welcome to attend the 6th and 7th grade recognition assembly. It will be on Monday from 8:45-9:45a.m. in the gymnasium. Please take the time to check in with the office and get a visitor’s badge before heading to the gym.
One final note is that Gerri Yaccino, Lynn Pittner, and Adam Zbrozek are leaving Haines. Gerri is retiring after 33 successful years at Haines and Thompson. Lynn Pittner has relocated to California and will continue to inspire and engage students in math. Adam Zbrozek will be moving to Lincoln Elementary as the new principal. I will miss all three and wish them the best of luck in the future.
Have a safe and wonderful summer.
Charlie Kyle
From the Nurse: All medication stored in the nurse’s office must be picked up by dismissal time on the last day of school (June 2). Any medication NOT picked up will be disposed of at that time.
Thank you,
Pat Ruhl, RN
