Welcome back to another exciting school year! We are off to a wonderful new beginning. As the new principal of Fox Ridge, I have spent the last few weeks working with the staff on our academic focus for the year, and getting to know parents and new students. During this time I have seen so many wonderful examples of why Fox Ridge has such an outstanding school community.
As always, the students are the focus of the Fox Ridge staff. We continue to expand our own knowledge as well as to set high standards for student learning. Fox Ridge did very well on the Illinois State Achievement tests and we have been analyzing those results to determine our instructional focus for this year. Your efforts at home are essential and indispensable in making sure each child reaches their full potential. We encourage your participation in school activities such as our Parent Academy and AVIC (Art Volunteers in the Classroom).
This year the district is beginning implementation of the Rigby Reading
series called “Literacy By Design.” Classroom teachers received
training this summer and will continue to receive support throughout
the year. Information on various parts of the program will be included
in the classroom newsletters.
The District 303 Parent Handbooks have been printed and will be distributed
at Curriculum Night for each grade level. The handbook contains important
information about various school policies and procedures. Each family
will be asked to sign the tear out sheet in the front of the handbook
so that we know all families have received their copy.
If you ever have any questions regarding your child’s education
at Fox Ridge, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher
or me. Your children are incredibly special, and I want to make sure
that we are doing our best to help them succeed.
