Bell-Graham
Is Wireless
The
LRC has wireless laptops to use in the LRC or in
the classrooms. |

Philosophy
Technology
at Bell-Graham is integrated into curriculum providing a seamless
connection between what is taught in the classroom and the LRC. Collaboration
between the LRC staff and teachers is vital to ensure that learning
goals are met for each technology and research project assigned.
Students
use technology when it connects to what they are learning. (Keyboarding
is the exception!) Computer skills are not taught in isolation but
are embedded in the assignments and projects students are completing.
Schedule
Computer
use in the LRC is designed to promote the best environment for student
learning. Teachers schedule their classes to use the computers whenever
research or projects have been assigned, and may sign up as often
as needed until the assignment is complete. Students may also come
to the LRC individually to finish assignments or research whenever
there is a computer available.
Hardware
The
LRC currently has 30 Windows computers in the LRC for student use,
two computerized checkout computers, and a color and black and white laser printers.
Additionally, we have 60 Windows based laptops that are used in classrooms and in the LRC. We are networked enabling students to access their work that is stored
on the file-server anywhere in the building. This allows students
to work both in their classrooms or in the LRC to complete projects.
Internet
Internet
use in the LRC is for school-related use only. Students are
expected to use the computers according to the district user guidelines.
While we are in a filtered environment and every attempt is made to
ensure the safety of our students, it is not always possible to filter
all sites. Students are always supervised whenever they are on the
Internet.
Keyboarding
Keyboarding
is taught in the LRC to 4th grader during the school year. The program we use is "Type to Learn"
and students are scheduled during regular classtime. Keyboarding
is taught to develop and reinforce proper techniques, which help the
students complete assignments quicker and easier.
